New York State of Mind
I wasn’t a newbie to New York, but I still think there are so many things I missed out on when I planned my trip back this year!
I went in the spring, so they weather was a little strange- I feel like I experienced a little bit of everything, but didn’t pack accordingly.
I’ve been trying to do all of my travel this year with just a carry-on suitcase, and I’m slowly getting the hang of it. I’ll have to do a blog posts that breaks down how I pack for these quick getaways soon!
I had no idea where to stay for this New York trip- and did up in a Homeaway Rental in the Financial District. I feel like the area was OK, but would definitely pick somewhere different next time I go back! (The rental is no longer available)
I definitely did some of the touristy things:
Top of the Rock (which I’m not sure why I hadn’t been there before, but I’m sure you’ve seen other bloggers with pictures with this awesome view of the city!)
Went to a Met’s game, and even though I’m not a Met’s fan that was a fun experience!
If you love Steak, you definitely have to go to Peter Luger’s Steakhouse in Brooklyn! You have to call to get a reservation, and the line wraps outside of the door waiting for it to open, it’s crazy! The steak is out of this world, and you definite have to try the Bacon as an appetizer if you go.
Beauty & Essex
This was the coolest spot, and also in Las Vegas, and LA so it’s not jus ta NYC spot. I really liked the vibe, and the food and cocktails were good! I would definitely recommend.
Chelsea Market was also really cool, there was a lot of eclectic little shops and restaurants to eat at! My favorite was Los Mariscos, the ceviche tostadas were so good!
A few days isn’t enough to see and do everything in the Big Apple, that’s why I’m already planning my next trip back, but next time I think I’ll go in December, to get the full “Home Alone” experience (Haha! I always think of Home Alone when I think of New York around Christmas time).
